Well after a successful start to the year bait fishing for bass I decided I would have a go with the lures. After a few bumps through the weed with the soft plastics I had the first bend in the rod with my first wrasse of the year in the 4lb8oz region. Nice start and got the blood pumping. Then 30mins went by without a bite, so I switched to the 23g real pearl savage gear sandeel. I started to slowly bump it through the weed beds when wallop, great scrap, first lure caught bass of the year, a chunky fish of 5lb. Same tactics again brought me another bass 4lb8oz. Nice to get out and have some fun with the light rod, very enjoyable little session.
